1. Go to the College Now/Tech Prep website at www.cocc.edu/techprep and review program information. Read the specific course competency checklist for the course(s) you want to teach. Determine whether or not your students can complete the requirements.
2. Complete and sign an articulation agreement listing the courses you would like to articulate. Follow the links to “Forms” on the Tech Prep website above and print the form. Read the agreement carefully. Both the teacher and the high school principal must sign the agreement. Agreements must be signed once each academic year. Fax or mail the signed agreement to the address on the form. The agreement signifies your intent to articulate. High school faculty must meet at least once each academic year with COCC faculty to ensure the curriculum, grading, materials, training and assessments are current for issuing college credit. Once you are approved to teach all courses listed on the articulation agreement, the agreement will be signed by COCC personnel. Both you and your principal will receive a signed copy. You are ready to go through the Teacher Approval Process.
3. Complete the Teacher Approval process. Before you teach the class you must be approved by COCC and provide documentation that verifies that you meet the same education and training required of CTE college instructors. Click on the Teacher Approval link. Print, complete and mail the Teacher Documentation form along with unofficial copies of your college transcripts to the COCC College Now/Tech Prep office. The COCC department chair is responsible for reviewing your documentation. You only need to submit this documentation once since your documents will be kept on file. You will be notified by mail and email regarding your approval status for each course. After you have been approved you may register students.
4. Register students. Registration for a class will be at the beginning of the term in which the class will be completed. Students have two college terms to complete the course. Registration forms are available through the Tech Prep office. See the Tech Prep Academic Calendar for important dates.
Steps in the registration process.
a. Students will complete and sign a registration form for each course.
b. Students will pay a $10.00 nonrefundable processing fee to COCC for each course.
